God's Spiritual Mental Health
©right Wulf Berg 2010

Are You Depressed?

Our Heavenly Father provides free mental health for the asking. He does not have a couch or a comfortable lounge chair. He does make house calls and meets His patients at their chosen location twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. All it takes is a request and our Father in Heaven stands ready to help.

We will explore our mental health and strengthen our trust. Help is always available for the asking. I thank Chaplain "Jim" Rozman, United States Air Force, for having mailed me a "resource list" for times when one is down and life seems dull. God is Positive. God will see us through. We can trust in Him. He will let our light shine for Jesus in a world lost in darkness of sin.

Are you worried and frustrated?

"Cast all your anxiety on God because He cares for you." (1 Peter 5:7)

A few years back I used to worry about many minor things and could become very easily frustrated. This consumed a lot of my energy. I even consulted a clinical psychologist to manage my stress. Apostle Paul advises us to turn our worries and frustration into prayers. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God". (Philippians 4:6) Whenever you start to worry or become frustrated, stop and pray. Very soon things will look better and you will enjoy God's blessings.

Are you saying to yourself: "I cannot forgive myself"?

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."  (1John 1:9)

There is more good news. "Praise the Lord ... who forgives all our sins and heals all our diseases, who redeems our life from the pit and crowns us with love and compassion, who satisfies our desires with good things so that our youth is renewed like the eagle's." (Psalm 103:2-5)

Are you saying to yourself: "I do not have enough faith"?

"Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you." (Romans 12:3)

Again, Paul encourages us on righteousness through faith. "Righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for we all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." (Romans 3:22-24)

Your faith does not save you.

Believe in Jesus Christ

who saved you from sins

no matter how small or big.

Have faith that His blood washed your sins away.

Is Your Vision Blocked?

There is Good News!

"Delight yourself in the Lord
And He will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord;
Trust in Him and He will do this:
He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
In justice of your cause like a noonday sun."
(Psalm 37:4-6)

Are you saying to yourself: "God, I can't do it"?

"I can do everything through Him who gives me strength."  (Philippians 4:13)

I get a lot of strength from Paul's encouragement to the church in Philippi. Let me share with you some of his writings. "It is God who works in us to will and to act according to His good purpose". (2:13) "Forget what is behind and strain toward what is ahead. Press on toward the goal to win the prize" (3:13-14)

Are you saying to yourself: "I can't figure this out"?

"If any of you lack wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him."  (James 1:5)

This is a clear and precise answer. Let us read on to see what else we can learn. "When you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind." (1:6) As a child of God, we can ask our Father in Heaven and He will show us the way and guide us to His destiny.

Are you saying to yourself: "It is impossible"?

"What is impossible with men is possible with God." (Luke 18:27)

All things are possible with God. "My God will meet all our needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus." - "To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen." (Philippians 4:27&20)

Are you saying to yourself: "I'm not able to do this"?

"God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every work." (2 Corinthians 9:8)

Trust me, God will see us through the most difficult situations and will stand by our side on this day and every day thereafter.

"God is for us, who can be against us?
He who did not spare His own Son,
but gave Him up for us all -
How will He not also, along with Him,
graciously give us all things?"
(Romans 8:31-32)

Do You Feel Drained?

Thanksgiving and Praying.

"I thank our God every time I think of you.
In all my prayers for all of us,
I always pray with joy
because of our partnership in the Gospel
from the first day until now, being confident of this,
that He who began a good work in us
will carry it on to completion
until the Day of Christ Jesus."
(Philippians 1:3-6)

Do you say: "I am so tired"?

Jesus says: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. ... I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your soul." (Matthews 11:28-29)

Do you say: "God, I can't go on"?

"The God of all Grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast." (1 Peter 5:10)

The Lord said: "Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me." (Job 40:7) You may want to read the entire book of Job. It is said that Job was "blameless and upright" and very rich. After losing everything and suffering from terrible sickness, Job was still devoted to God. When God showed him His mighty power, Job admitted that God is too great and wonderful to understand.

Do you say: "Nobody really loves me"?

God loves you. "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."  (John 3:16)

In His final days Jesus gave us this command: "Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." (John 13:34) How can you say that nobody really loves you?

Do you say: "I feel all alone"?

"God has said 'Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." (Hebrews 13:5)

Let us cherish God's Word

and be thankful for the blessings

He has bestowed upon us.

We are not alone,

we must open our eyes

and see all the beauty around us.

Let us be a witness for God

and soon we will be surrounded by other saints

who want to praise our Lord Jesus Christ.

Have you ever seen one sheep by itself?

The shepherd keeps his flock together

and leads them to green pastures. Hallelujah.

Amen.

Do You Lack Self-Esteem?

Thanksgiving and Praying.

"I always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when I pray for you, because I know of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all the saints."

(Colossians 1:3-4)

Do you say: "I am afraid"?

"God did not give us a spirit of fear (timidity), but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline." (2 Timothy 1:7)

Previously we learned that God will never leave us or forsake us. So we can say with confidence: "The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" (Hebrews 13:6)

Do you say: "I cannot manage"?

God replies: "If you stumble in safe country, how will you manage in the thickets?" (Jeremiah 12:5)

Do not give up; get back on your feet and the Lord will show you the way: "Whatever happens, manage (conduct) yourself in a manner worthy of the Gospel of Christ." (Philippians 1:27)

Do you say: "I am not smart enough"?

"Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of us were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth."  (1 Corinthians 1:26)

"I came in weakness and fear, and with much trembling. My message and my preaching is not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power." (1 Corinthians 2:3-5)

How true these words are today in my case. You may want to go back and read my story in Chapter 1 titled "God's Gifts". "The Lord gives wisdom, and from His mouth comes knowledge and understanding". (Proverbs 2:6)

Do you say: "I am not worth it"?

"I consider that our present sufferings (and state of mind) are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us."  (Romans 8:18)

There is a little child that sleeps in a deep coma in a German hospital. This child of God has the precious gift to witness for our Lord. What could be of greater worth?

Let us always thank God for all His children,

mentioning each other in our prayers.

We continually remember

before our God and Father

our work produced by faith,

our labor prompted by love

and our endurance inspired

by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

(Inspired by 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3)

BLESSINGS

WE MAY NOT RECOGNIZE

1. If you own a Bible, you are abundantly blessed - about one-third of the world does not have access to one.

2. If you pray today or any day, you are blessed because you believe in God's willingness to hear your prayer.

3. If you pray for someone else, you are blessed because you want to help others also.

4. If you have a brother or sister in Christ that will pray with you and for you, you benefit from a spiritual unity, bond, and agreement, which the gates of hell cannot stand against.

5. If you can go to bed each night, knowing that God loves you, you are blessed beyond measure.

6. If you try each day to imitate our Lord Jesus Christ for even a minute, you are blessed because you show a willingness to grow up in Him.

7. If you can hold someone's hand, hug another person, touch someone on the shoulder, you are blessed because you can offer God's healing touch.

8. If you can share a word of encouragement with someone else, and do it with His love in your heart, you are blessed because you have learned how to give.

9. If you have the conviction to stand fast upon His Word and His promises, no matter what, you are blessed because you are learning patience, endurance, and tenacity.

10. If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful, you are blessed because most people can, but many will not.

May God Bless You And Keep You Safe.

(Thank you Deborah Morrison for sharing these blessings.)
